Tennants of Warriorship

With all the negative publicity of the War on Terrorism, a large cross section of the United States appears to be forgetting about the soldiers and their selfless sacrifice to us. Anti-war protestors and indignant left wing idiots probably don’t even know what a real warrior is all about and why they fight. Very briefly I will attempt to explain what makes a warrior and why they should be held in reverence.

First, a warrior is not strictly a war machine. The warrior is melding of body, mind and spirit. The warrior must be in balance to combat today’s violence. They must be in superior physical condition to maintain combat readiness at all times. This includes being a highly motivated student of war and a master of warfare. Violence of action will win the day. They must have a bullet proof mind to protect themselves mentally and emotionally from the horrors of combat. This includes visualization and mental training for future deadly and violent encounters. Not fearlessness, but the ability to channel fear to accomplish the mission. They must be spiritually centered and know that they are doing the right thing for the betterment of humanity. They must know that they are soldiers for God.

So what traits make a wholesome warrior? Loyalty, courage, selflessness, benevolence, honor, faith, moral righteousness, respect, self control and integrity to name a few. A true warrior realizes these traits of a highly effective person and will build their life around them. For today’s warrior, more important than yourself is the man fighting next to you.

This brief liturgy is a glimpse of what the way of the warrior is all about. The diligence and dedication of these fine American warriors will continue to defend freedom for generations to come. May God bless these fine people and their service to us.
