The confession of Khalid Sheik Mohammed made public last weekend has been attacked and ridiculed this past week. Military interrogators cracked KSM and he admitted to beheading Daniel Pearl and taking part in over 30 terrorists plots against the United States and other allied nations.
Instead of praising the determined and relentless efforts of our military to protect America, Hollywood and left wing media outlets believe that this event is evidence of a corrupt government bent of seeking war with non-allied nations. The focal point of their attacks is torture and the belief that the confessions given by KSM were given under duress.
Although Americans stand for a higher moral purpose than most other countries, we must understand that the world has changed in the last decade and we must change with it. Just because we stand for this higher purpose does not mean that we need to play Mr. Nice Guy. It only means that we must focus our efforts on violent and evil people. If we applies non-traditional practices, such as torture, to these people, our moral standards are not lessened because these are combatants. By entering into combat actions with the United States you place yourself on the list and any and all means can be inflicted upon you.
I am not agreeing with Rosie and saying I believe torture took place at Camp Delta because if they say they did not use torture to elicit the confession then I believe our government. However, if the time comes when it would be beneficial to use torture techniques to gain information that would help save American lives then I would not loose any sleep over thinking about their agony. I have empathy for dead and dying Americans not enemy combatants.
