Death Ground Mogadishu

Reminiscent of Task Force Ranger's deadly battle in Mogadishu, Somalia in 1993 described in "Black Hawk Down", fighting is continuing to rage in the urban sprawl of Mogadishu. Somali government troops backed by Ethiopian troops have been battling against an Islamic insurgency that has been trying to overthrow the legitimate internationally recognized government.

In a direct action operation launched Tuesday at midnight, troops were engaged in heavy fighting with the insurgents. As the battle raged, masked insurgents dragged the dead bodies of a Somali soldier and Ethiopian soldier through the streets. The insurgents lit their bodies on fire and woman began pelting the burning bodies with rocks.

Over-shadowed by Iraq, the battling in Mogadishu will continue to rage with no end in sight. This is proof that Islamic extremism is not localized in the Middle East but in Africa as well. Terrorist attacks and fundamentalism are also growing into fruition in Europe and the United States.

If we do not fight for freedom now, then there will not be much left to fight for in the future.

Now that's what I like to see; a respectufl burial. For a moment I feared we were reading an artical and looking at a picture of savages.
