Prelude To War

Today, 15 UK soldiers were illegally seized by the Iranian navy and taken hostage. The UK soldiers were conducting routine interdiction missions in the Persian Gulf. After boarding a suspected smuggling ship, Iranian vessels sped into the area and took the soldiers captive. According to witnesses, the Iranian vessels took the boarding party and their equipment from international waters to Iranian waters.

The UK is demanding the immediate unconditional release of the soldiers and is pursuing every available avenue to secure their safety. At the very least this was an illegal kidnapping conducted in international waters and at most this is a prelude to war. I have no doubt that this kidnapping was to avenge the suspected kidnappings of Iranian officials by the West. However, as we have already discussed those were defections and arrest by military combatants in Iraq and resemble nothing of a kidnap. Iran is treading in dangerous waters and should be prepared to deal with the wrath of the United States and UK.

There will certainly be more news coming and Frontline America will keep you posted.
